|Synopsis||As eccentric and dysfunctional families go, the Benson brood take the biscuit. Gathering for the funeral of their matriach, Dot Benson, they receive a telephone call from the funeral directors telling them that during the night several coffins had gone missing including the one containing Dot.
As blind panic ensues, the family decide that the funeral must go ahead despite protestations from the Police, the Church and the Undertakers.
To make matters worse, the undertaker has run out of coffins and cancelled the cortege and suspended all burials that day. The family improvise, and run the funeral themselves, finally lying Dot Benson's spirit to rest that afternoon. As they return for the buffet, another situation arises which requires their urgent attention. As always, the Benson's have a solution to every problem.|

Sue (male 50s) Monica (female 40s) Leanne (female 20s) Mark (male 20s) Leslie (female 40s) Hilary (male 40s) Annie (female 40s) Tracey (female 30s)
|Production||The play warrants a boxed set and believable props and costumes are a must. Entrances and exits play an important part in the action.
The characters should be believable and played straight, although the situation is somewaht contrived.
Leslie's character should dominate and be dictatorial although she does show her soft spot. Sue is the eldest and stamps his authority when he sees fit. Annie is the happy-go-lucky wife, who's been through a lot wirth Sue. Monica and Hilary have their own problems, while Mark can't fathom out the family, no thanks to Leanne who can't bear to lose him if she reveals her family's eccentricity. The play is a black comedy drama. We all have to go through bereavements and a few laughs here and there never hurt anyone. As they say -Life's too short not to laugh.
