SynopsisIt is 1931 in Cyprus and the country is gripped in civil unrest, as the British administration force tax laws on the community against the wishes of the National Council consisting of Greek and Turkish Cypriots. In a small town populated by Greek Cypriots, their idyllic life style is disrupted by disturbances in Limassol. A high class prostitute, Maria, works in the taverana as a barmaid and entertains men on Tuesdaysand Friday afternoons by organising a ticket draw for men to win her favours. As civil disturbances spill into the rural areas, Maria meets a British Army officer whose grandmother was born in Limassol. They both have strong political beliefs as they would like to see a unified Cyprus or enosis with Greece. He makes a decision that will change his life forever
